Transforming F2F teaching methods into virtual ones

Mariam Kilanava is a member of International Organization of English Language Teachers (IATEFL) and ETAG (Georgia). She holds the TEFL Masters (Level 4) Certificate. She has participated in various international conferences and has published about 15 scientific works. Mariam Kilanava has earned more than 70 certificates in the field of foreign language teaching. Her main academic interests are innovative teaching/assessing methods of foreign languages in higher education and CPD.



Mariam was one of the key Speaker during Central Asia TEFL-2021 Conference and her presentation was about “Perspectives of Transforming F2F teaching methods into virtual ones”.

As she says:

• Using technology in class environment – past – forbidden, present- necessary, future- obligatory.


• If in the recent past the content was important in the curriculum, now the accent is on its design.


The service design in Education- When you have two coffee shops right next to each other, and each sells the exact same coffee at the exact same price, service design is what makes you walk into one and not the other’ (Schneider: 2012.25).


Mariam Kilanava was born in Georgia in 1985. She successfully graduated from Sokhumi State University specializing in English Philology in 2007; she earned master's degree in Translation Studies at Saint Andrew the First-Called Georgian University in 2013 and was awarded a degree of doctor in the same field in 2014.
